Apple ARKit and Android ARCore apps for education

Aim

To create an AR education apps for kids with engaging tasks.

Solution

The apps allow parents to engage kids with quizzes using AR models of animals and objects (fruits, toys and etc). For instance, the task is to name domestic animals among the AR models placed on the surrounding horizontal area (both indoors and outside). The sets of animals and objects are free (up to 10) or paid (more than 20). The app allows kids to find out new words and practice them via interactive games.
Basic AR opportunities used:

• Environmental detection or ‘environmental understanding’. It allows your phone to look for flat horizontal surfaces;
• Motion tracking feature allows you to pin an object to 1 place and go round it;
• Scaling light estimation makes objects more realisticthethe due to the estimation of the light around you.
