Senior Technical Program Manager

About the role

As a senior technical program manager within the engineering organization, you will be the glue that brings colleagues together to deliver technical cross-functional initiatives, often with tight deadlines and dependencies. You will be building relationships based on trust and integrity across the organization, that enable you to break through collaboration issues, resolve conflicts, and effectively manage risks.
This role will sit in the central PMO team, that oversees the coordination and delivery of complex interdependent engineering initiatives across Careem. Our mission is to bring people together to materialize Careem’s vision efficiently. Your role will be critical in ensuring our team delivers complex initiatives on time and to a high standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with engineers, product managers, designers, researchers, data scientists, and fellow TPMs to conceptualize cross-functional initiatives with layers of dependencies, and plan their execution.
  • Organize and align multiple stakeholders to drive timely execution
  • Have a solid understanding of the architecture to exercise technical judgment as necessary
  • Set accountability through communication of progress transparency and visibility on the next set of actions and milestones
  • Manage resource allocation and risks to optimize delivery
  • Identify opportunities for optimization and evolve the existing processes, practices and frameworks that help promote collaboration, transparency and ways of working
  • Evolve existing tools and dashboards that provide insight to the health scorecard to the engineering organization, especially around delivery to commitment, pace and quality
  • Continuously look for opportunities for optimizing pace and quality

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Computer science / Engineering or related field with a Bachelor degree
  • Experience of 10+ years as a TPM or engineering manager in a fast-paced engineering organization
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand technical challenges and risks
  • Experience in distributed systems at scale, especially around topics of scalabile resilience
  • Background of fundamental engineering concepts including SSDLC, testing methodologies, API monitoring metrics, and SLAs
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner, bringing the audience along
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple teams and cross-organisation stakeholder management
  • Passionate problem solver who adapts their approach and experience to evolving environments
