QA Automation Engineer
About the Project
We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join an exciting project in the Education Technology (EdTech) domain. You will become part of a small, agile cross-functional team, working closely with developers and product stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, accessible web applications.
This role combines automation and manual testing (50/50) and is ideal for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership, working independently, and contributing to both quality strategy and day-to-day feature validation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated UI tests using Playwright and TypeScript
- Perform functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing of new features
- Execute both manual and automated test scenarios as part of the development lifecycle
- Collaborate closely with developers, Product Owners, and Business Analysts in an Agile environment
- Create and maintain test documentation, test cases, and bug reports
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Identify quality risks and proactively improve testing processes
- Ensure web applications meet accessibility standards and deliver an excellent user experience
Required Skills
- 4+ years of experience in Software QA, including automation testing
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright
- Solid knowledge of TypeScript and Node.js
- Experience performing both manual functional testing and test automation
- Strong understanding of web application testing principles
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps (ADO)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage testing activities with minimal supervision
Nice to Have
- Experience in the EdTech domain
- Experience with Medicaid in Education, including knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) or school-based Medicaid billing workflows
- Hands-on experience with Accessibility (a11y) testing
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.x and Section 508 compliance requirements
- Experience using accessibility testing tools such as axe-core
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution
