DevOps-Driven Modernization of a High-Scale Classifieds Platform
Our client – a British company – had a rapidly growing classifieds platform. However, at a certain point, traffic on the platform began to outstrip the infrastructure’s capacity. With each passing day, the client noticed more and more limitations: performance during peak loads was declining, updates were becoming less frequent, and the risks of fraudulent activity were becoming more alarming. These issues were affecting both the team and the platform’s development. In short: they were holding back progress.
We approached the platform modernisation in the following way: we focused on a gradual DevOps-led transformation rather than a complete overhaul of the system. We broke the legacy system down into parts and refactored each one in stages. This allowed us to balance the load on the system, as the platform continued to operate throughout the modernisation process. At the same time, however, we were constantly improving our deployment pipelines. This enabled the web and mobile platforms to evolve in parallel, supported by more robust CI/CD processes, controlled releases and improved monitoring capabilities across the entire system.
The key focus was maintaining uninterrupted production traffic while progressively shifting toward a more resilient, scalable delivery and infrastructure model.
